2021 LeadBlue Awards - Student Organization (Group) Award Application

Organization information

The application must be complete to be considered by the selection committee.  All forms must be submitted no later than 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.

All organizations that are nominated must be registered with the Office of Student Organizations and Activities for the 2020-2021 academic year.

New Organization of the Year
This award recognizes the efforts of a newly registered student organization that has been registered for only 1-2 (was registered for the first time during the 2019-2020 or 2020-2021 academic years). Organizations will have made a positive contribution to the campus community and its membership in their first 1-2 years on campus. This organization must show potential in the areas of community engagement, collaboration, diversity, and leadership development.

Applications will be judged based on the following criteria: quality of supplemental materials, community engagement for their officers and members (including leadership development), collaboration, and commitment to diversity.

Student Organization of the Year
This award recognizes the efforts of a registered student organization that has been registered for more than 2 years (has been registered since the 2018-2019 academic year). Organizations will have made a positive contribution to the campus community and its membership. This organization must demonstrate excellence in the areas of community engagement, collaboration, diversity, and leadership development.

Applications will be judged based on the following criteria: quality of supplemental materials, community engagement for their officers and members (including leadership development), collaboration, and commitment to diversity.

Collaboration Award
This award recognizes the efforts of two or more registered student organizations that worked together on a specific program/event/project.  Applications will also be accepted for student organizations that worked together with University Departments on a specific program/event/project.  The achievement should be a unique action that has not benefited the welfare of the organizations, fulfilled any national affiliation, or led to any monetary gain. The achievement should not have been related to a recruiting or competitive event.

Applications will be judged based on the following criteria: quality of supplemental materials, program goals, program outcomes, planning and preparation, overcoming obstacles, and program success.

Program of the Year (50+ members)
This award has been created to recognize an outstanding program that has occurred during the 2020 calendar year (January 2020-December 2020) coordinated by a student group or organization with greater than 50 members that has had a unique impact on the university community. Programs are events and activities created by students for students that occurred one time or over a period of time.

Applications will be judged based on the following criteria: quality of supplemental materials, program goals, program outcomes, planning and preparation, overcoming obstacles, and program success.

Program of the Year (Under 50 members)
This award has been created to recognize an outstanding program that has occurred during the 2020 calendar year (January 2020-December 2020)  coordinated by a student group or organization with fewer than 50 members that has had a unique impact on the university community. Programs are events and activities created by students for students that occurred one time or over a period of time.

Applications will be judged based on the following criteria: quality of supplemental materials, program goals, program outcomes, planning and preparation, overcoming obstacles, and program success.

Diversity and Inclusion Organization
The Diversity & Inclusion Award is presented to a student organization that demonstrates an active commitment to issues of diversity, inclusion, and social justice. The organization has demonstrated this active commitment through its programming and initiatives. The program or initiatives will have a focus on developing understanding, tolerance, and acceptance.

Applications will be judged based on the following criteria: quality of supplemental materials, program goals, program outcomes, planning and preparation, overcoming obstacles, and program success.

Civic Engagement Award (service-based organization)
This award honors the exceptional commitment and service to the community by a student group or organization whose mission is dedicated to service.  Nominees should demonstrate a high level of achievement in one or more areas, such as the fulfillment of its organization's purpose, membership involvement, organization development, active participation in UK campus activities, and community service or philanthropy.

Applications will be judged based on the following criteria: quality of supplemental materials, organization mission, community impact, and campus impact.

Civic Engagement Award (non-service based organization)
This award honors the exceptional commitment and service to the community by a student group or organization whose mission is not dedicated to service.  Nominees should demonstrate a high level of achievement in one or more areas, such as membership involvement, organization development, active participation in UK campus activities, and community service or philanthropy.

Applications will be judged based on the following criteria: quality of supplemental materials, organization mission, community impact, and campus support.
